I agree it is a lot. Some of these expenses should be going into your savings account. Hence, why I did some research on other ways to save you money on car gasoline. This is through fuel savings programs in US Nationwide gas stations.
Yes, some nationwide gas stations can literally save you hundreds of dollars annually. This is through their gas reward cards. In comparison, they all save you a few cents per gallon of gasoline. However, they differ on how you get your gas savings.
While some require you to scan their barcode to get discount, others require annual membership to access their reward cards. I will elaborate the best gas station rewards programs and their gas discount below.
Best Reward Cards For Gas
These are the best discount gas fuel cards for young working class adults.
1. The Exxon Mobil Gas Rewards+ Program
Exxon Mobil gas station has one of the best gas reward programs out there. They are located in 47 United States of America and 4000+ cities. For a simple membership, you can save $0.03 per gallon on car fuel purchases. The only requirement for this qualification is you have to get gas three times a month. Also, you cannot fill less than 8 gallons at an Exxon Mobil fuel pump.
In addition to saving $0.03 per gallon, the Exxon Mobil Gas rewards program offers another way to get more than $0.03 per gallon fuel savings. This is through its premium status. It multiples your savings by two. Your gas reward will be $0.06 per gallon of gasoline, rather than $0.03.
This is especially on their Synergy Supreme+ gas at the fuel pump.
To sign up for the savings, you can download their fuel reward app. The app is called Exxon Mobil Rewards+ app. Or, sign up on the website. The website only asks for your name, email and phone number.
Finally, you can get points for in store purchases. Whenever your points accumulate to 100 points, you get a $1. For the gas savings though, you only have to search and use any Mobil or Exxon gas station to to save on gas cost.
2. Circle K Easy Loyalty Rewards Program
Circle K gas stations have a great gas discount cards. Not only is it free, but also it is based on a point system. What this mean is the more you purchase, the more you accumulate points. Once you reach 2000 points, you save $2 on gas purchases.
2000 points sounds awfully a lot to accumulate, does it not?
You can get those points easily. According to Circle K Easy Rewards, you get 10 points per gallon at their fuel pumps. Therefore, it will take you about 200 gallons to save $2.
To signup for the Circle K Card, get it for free at the nearest Circle K gas station. Download and enroll on the app. Then, link your gas rewards card to your app. You will receive an email for confirmation. Once it is done, you are ready to start earning points.
Now, the points do not always have to be from gasoline purchases. You can earn points each time you buy from the gas station. In fact, you earn 20 points per dollar spent on grocery, cafe and other purchases. It is a great way to save money on gas.
To conclude, Circle K points expire after six months of inactivity. You can bypass this by using the gas station or its points at least once within the period. Circle K Easy Rewards is one of the best fuel rewards program out there. Take advantage of it.
3. The Walmart Membership Card
To get Walmart gas discount, you have to sign up for its membership card. Such a membership saves you $0.05 per gallon of gasoline. According to a 140 gallons monthly car fuel usage, you will save about $84 per year on fuel expenditure.
What is the significance of $0.05 per gallon gas discount at Walmart, my good reader?
Well, let us say it takes you 13 gallons of gasoline to fill up your car gas tank; using Walmart membership card, you will save $0.65 per 13 gallon gas fill at the fuel pump. It may not sound much, but when you consider the amount of times you fill up gas in a year, it is good savings.
How To Become A Walmart Member?
Walmart Membership card costs $12.95 monthly or $95 annually. Is the gas card worth it?
Well, I will let you decide on that one. The card does not only apply for gas discount, but also applies to groceries. You get discount on car fuel, groceries (free delivery) and pharmaceutical prescription. Furthermore, this is a great program for a family since everyone can use it to save on Walmart purchases. In the long run, the savings will outweigh the cost of the annual membership fee.
Finally, the walmart gas rewards card covers about 44 states in the United States of America. Here is a list of participating gas stations which offer Walmart’s discount of $0.05 per gallon of gasoline.
4. Shell Fuel Rewards Program
Shell gas stations has a fuel reward program. It saves $0.05 per gallon of gasoline for gold members. Also, a category called silver members can save $0.03 per gallon.
What is the catch of these gas rewards?
They are to tackle gas prices on the rise. This is through an app called Fuel Rewards®. It is on google and apple stores. Once it is download, link your debit card to it. This enables you to redeem gas points at Shell. It is a great way to save money on gas at Shell gas stations.
Additionally, you can use these savings to buy up to 20 gallons of gas at one filing. This is as long as you swipe your linked debit card and select redeem reward prior to filling your gas tank. You will save quite a lot annually.
5. The QuikTrip Gas Rewards Program
QT has rewards for gas purchases. Its gas station rewards program is based on a point system. Like other points which you have to accumulate, it offers 1 reward points for every 2 gallons purchased. But, here is where QT fuel rewards program differs from other gasoline rewards programs.
One point saves you $0.01 per gallon of gas. It is satisfying, is it not?
There is a catch though. You can only purchase 20 gallons of gasoline in one filing with your rewards. If there is any remaining point, it would be carried to the next gas filing time.
To signup for the program, go to the gas station and get the card. Then, reload money on it to use. QuikTrip gas station has three gas discount cards. With the exception of the Wichita area, they are not for free.
Well- as a fellow working class adult, I recommend getting the gift card. It is rechargeable and affordable. This is because it only charges you to reload for gas purchases. Since you are already paying for gas with your debit card, you might as well get it and save money on car fuel. Just make sure you always redeem your gas rewards, prior to fueling.
6. Kroger Fuel Discount Program
Kroger family of stores fuel centers have one of the best fuel rewards. It does not have a limit on fuel points. Remember some of those rewards we have discussed here have limits?
In the Kroger fuel reward, points work in 100 increments. For 1000 points, you get $1 off per gallon. Also, some shell locations- partners, will let you redeem 100 points for $0.10 per gallon discount rate. The Kroger fuel rewards points expire the same month as your last point accumulation; but, it is on the last day of the month though.
How do you sign up for the Kroger Fuel Perks Program?
Kroger has a card called Kroger Reward Debit Card. It is a shopper’s card which is linked to your checking account. It has no annual fee, so you do not have to worry about attached fees. According to Kroger, you earn a 2% discount on store purchases and 50% more fuel points per $1 spent on gasoline. All you have to do is claim your point each time you make a purchase at the store.
7. The Sunoco Go RewardSM Program
The Sunoco gas discount program is awesome. It saves you $0.03 per gallon on gasoline. Also, the minimum amount of gas you have to fuel to earn your savings is 5 gallons. While you can keep your savings for some time, it is recommended you fuel at their fuel pumps twice a month to keep it active.
Finally, to sign up for your rewards at the Sunoco gas station, you just have to sign up on their app. Download their app- Sunoco App. Then, join through the app.
Whenever you fuel at a Sunoco gas station, just go to the app and enter the fuel transaction details on your app for your rewards. This includes the fuel pump number and payment method. Be sure to redeem your rewards each time you make a gas purchase.
8. BPMe Fuel Savings Program
With the BPMe reward program, you get to save $0.05 per gallon of gasoline. All you have to do, is to download the BPMe Reward app. Add a payment method to it and start using it.
There is a catch to this though. You need to spend $100 on a BP or Amoco gas station to keep any savings you may have accumulated. Be sure to always redeem your points each time you pay for gas at the fuel pump.
9. Murphy USA Gas Rewards Program
Murphy USA gas station has a good fuel savings program. It is based on a point accumulation system. Here is how it works, good reader.
You get a point per gallon of gas purchased. For other purchases, you get two points per $1 dollar sent. These points can get you about $1 per gallon at their fuel pumps for up to 20 gallons of gasoline.
In addition, this courtesy extends to Walmart fuel pumps. You get a $0.05 per gallon gas discount at Walmart gas stations. So, how do you sign up for it?

In the end, the best fuel savings programs are ones where you do not have to pay to utilize the benefits. Gas rewards are worth it.
