A Guide To Charles Schwab Mobile Deposit

Charles Schwab is a bank after my own heart. I use its brokerage services, because of how easy it is to access financial securities like stocks, mutual funds and ETFs without fees. Above all, I use Charles Schwab mobile deposit to fund my investment account since my city only has two physical locations. Both locations are far from my residency.

So, what do I like about the Schwab mobile deposit?

It is one of my 8 best banks for instant mobile check deposit. As long as you deposit that check before 4 pm, Schwab bank always make some of the funds available immediately. The only time I have seen my check deposit delayed was when my check amount was about $5000 or so.

On this guide, I am going to guide you through the bank’s mobile check cashing process. That way, you work within the bank policy to ensure a smooth check deposit. Here are the important things I want you to know below.

How To Use Schwab Mobile Deposit

I can deposit a check on Schwab app by doing the following below:

  • Login on the Schwab app. I am hoping you already downloaded this app on your phone. This is because it beats going to a physical locations every time.
  • On the app, you should see transfer, deposit, orders and insights. It is below the total value which is a graph showing the total money in your account.
  • Tap on Deposit.
  • Select the account you want the check deposit to. I usually deposit mine to my individual brokerage account.
  • Enter the check amount. Be careful here, when typing in this part. Make sure it is exactly the same amount as on your check.
  • Take pictures of the front and back of the check. I advise you do the picture on a black background with the check filling the digital capture frame.
  • Tap on Review Check. This is to ensure everything is correct. Then, deposit the check.

Alternatively, there is another way you can get to the check deposit featue. You also do it through the following below.

  • Login to Schwab app.
  • Tap on more. It is the three-dot feature on the bottom right of the app.
  • Scroll down, until you see Deposit Checks. Then, tap on the it to begin the process.

From my experience depositing check on Schwab’s app, your check gets deposited immediately. Otherwise, it gets rejected. This is especially when the pictures do not capture the check very well.

Usually, Schwab rejecting your check when it is a legit check occurs due to background issues. That is check being blurry or the digital process captured another information on the background, which is not part of the check. Also, the check can get rejected when it is not endorsed. Charles Schwab and other financial institutions are strict about check endorsement.

How Do I Endorse A Check For Schwab Mobile Deposit?

On endorsing a check for mobile deposit guide, I explained the importance of signing a check before you deposit it. This is what it means to endorse a check. You sign the back of the check, before you deposit it on the Schwab app.

Do you know where to sign a check?

On the back of your check, there is a line which always says to endorse here. This is where you sign. When you sign on that line, it means you are authorized to cash the check. So, be sure you do that before the mobile check cashing process.

Charles Schwab Mobile Deposit Limit

One thing I love about the Schwab mobile deposit is the check deposit limit is much higher than traditional banks. The deposit limit is $100,000. Kinda high, is it not?

You would expect some banks to ask you to come in for that kind of amount. But, it is not really necessary with Schwab. With Charles Schwab, the mobile deposit feature handles that amount for you.

Oh, I forgot to mention the part which will shock you. The $100,000 limit is just a daily deposit maximum. To simplify, it is the maximum amount we can deposit through the Schwab mobile deposit. I know, it is one of the things I love about the bank.

It just waves away the stress of banking for me. My other bank, a credit union, would definitely call me in to come deposit that amount face to face. I am not going to mention the name of that bank here, but sometimes I feel like it could learn from the Schwab mobile deposit limit.

Charles Schwab Mobile Deposit Cut Off Time

There is a cut off time for Charles Schwab mobile deposits. The cut off time is 4pm. This does not mean we will not be able to cash a check after 4pm. What it means, is the deposited check will begin processing the next business day.

As a result, the full Charles Schwab mobile deposit funds availability may take 1 to 2 business days. Whenever I deposit a check, Schwab usually makes the first $225 available within the hour for me to use. Sometimes, I get the whole amount the same day.

It depends on the check amount. The bigger the check, the more likely it will take a day to a few business days for the check’s fund to be fully available.

On the whole, this is all I want you to know about Charles Schwab check deposit process. What I described here for you, is how I usually go about it. If you are looking for other check cashing apps that give money instantly, check out the blue highlighted guide. I hope this article helps!
