How To Deposit A Check On Cash App Instantly

Cash app deposits checks instantly. You do not have to drive to a bank to do it. The best thing about Cash App mobile check deposit is it is absolutely free. You can deposit a check on Cash App without being charged a single cent for it.

Additionally, the app will deposit funds to your bank account or debit card, free of charge after letting you cash checks with them. This is as long as you have a debit card or bank account information.

What is the catch, my dear reader?

You need an account with the money app to use this service. If you do not have an account, create an account with Cash App to send and receive money. Otherwise, continue reading the article.

There are two kinds of mobile check deposit on Cash App. One is done electronically, and the other is a paper check deposit. Here is what to know about deposit a check on Cash App using both.

How To Deposit A Paper Check On Cash App

You can cash a paper check on Cash App. It involves a mobile check deposit feature on the app. The mobile check capture lets you take two photo shots of your check; mainly front and back of the check.

Here are the steps to load a paper check into the Cash App, my good reader:

  1. Click on Balance on the left bottom of the app.
  2. Select the option about depositing a check.
  3. Then, type the amount on the check. Make sure not to write any other number, besides the amount written on the check.
  4. Take a picture of the check’s front and back using the mobile capture feature. Be sure to capture all the edges of the check. Further, take the pictures on a monotonous background with the check’s image covering almost all of the camera frame.

Finally, do not get rid of the paper check until you have been notified of a deposit. Keep it for another two weeks. This is one of Cash App check cashing policies.

Requirements For Cash App Mobile Check Deposit

In order to use Cash App paper money deposit, you have to met these requirements.

  1. The check must have your legal name or your name and someone else’s on it.
  2. It has to be payable to United States Banks.
  3. You must endorse the check on the back.
  4. Your check amount has to be the same as the one fill on the mobile check capture.
  5. The check has to be a legitimate check- not a fake check or a previously captured check.
  6. The amount written on the check has to be paid in the United States currency.
  7. Make sure you capture all the borders of the check during the mobile check capture.
  8. Finally, all printed amount and name must be legible. Blurred or stained paper check may not deposit.

If you cover all of these requirements, Cash App will not delay your check deposit. This is because there will not be any need for additional verification, other than Cash App usual check verification process.

How long does Cash App take to deposit a paper check

Paper check deposit on Cash App takes 1 -3 business days. This is the standard approach, which is free. If you want an instant deposit within minutes to your debit card, you will be charged 0.5% to 1.75% fees and a $0.25 minimum fee charge.

Again, it is recommended you keep your paper check for two weeks before getting rid of it. This is standard practice with most financial institutions. It is just in case your check bounces, or get rejected.

How To Electronically Deposit A Check On Cash App

This is another way to cash a check on Cash App. It is the same as setting up direct deposits for paychecks or any other reoccurring check payment.

You will need a Cash App’s debit card. It is called a Cash Card. The debit card is free. You need to activate the cash app card once you get it, so it enables companies to electronically mobile deposit a check on Cash App to you.

This is convenient for people with no bank account, is it not?

I agree. Since you need a Cash Card to set up automatic check deposit on Cash App, here is the process of getting one for free.

  1. Click on the card sign on the bottom of the app.
  2. On the bottom of the next page, click “Get Cash Card“.
  3. Follow the instructions after that.

You have to be 18 years or older to qualify for the debit card though. Usually, the debit card arrives in about a week. As soon as it arrives, you can use it to enable your electronic check deposit on Cash App. Here are the steps to setting up direct deposit on Cash App:

  1. Firstly, you need to know what your account and routing numbers are, since you already apply for a debit card.
  2. Click on the $ sign below the app. You can click on account and routing number. Write them somewhere, because you will use them to activate direct mobile check deposit on Cash App.
  3. Go back to the money tab– $ sign.
  4. Click Direct Deposit tab.
  5. Get the form and fill it out.
  6. Finally, use the email form tab to send the information to interested parties.

Your electronic direct check deposit is ready for use.

What Kind Of Checks Can Be Electronically Deposited On Cash App

This method of instant check deposit on Cash App is best for reoccurring timely check. Examples of such checks include paychecks, social security, child support, tax return, government assistance or retirement checks. They get deposited for you on Cash App without stress.

Cash App Mobile Check Deposit Limit

What is the Cash App deposit limit, my dear reader?

With a cash card- cash app debit card, you can receive up to $25,000 per direct deposit. Or up to $50,000 in a day. A deposit of this size would raise an alarm, if you did it at your bank. This is because any bank deposit of more than $9999 is reported to the IRS.

This is another reason to get the cash card, since it does not cost anything to get. Cash App does not ask questions, unlike some banks. Also, Cash App is one of the 8 Best Check Cashing Apps For Instant Cash which have this kind of limit. You could check the articles for other ones.

Cash App Mobile Check Deposit Funds Availability

The Cash App direct deposit schedule is quite fast. The app claims to be two days faster than your average bank. Personally, I can attest to this claim when it comes to sending and receiving money on the app.

However, it is quite different when it comes to check deposit. Here is what I mean, my dear reader.

All checks, except the US Treasury Checks are available the next business day after mobile deposit. Otherwise, it takes 1 to 15 business days for your check to be available. By business days here, I refer to Monday through Friday. Public holidays and weekends are not included.

In addition, Cash App considers any check deposit before 4pm as business hours deposits. Checks deposited after 4 pm are after business hours deposit. Therefore, the Cash App direct deposit schedule will not apply until the next day.

Why Does Cash App Reject My Check Deposit?

I have not had an issue where Cash App has denied my check before. But, it does happen sometimes according to peoples’ complaints on reddit. It happens, when you do not follow Cash App policy on check deposit.

Simply put, you will have Cash App check deposit issues because of the following below:

  • The check is not endorsed to you. You need to sign the check on the back before you attempt to mobile capture it on Cash App.
  • Your legal name is not on the check. This is the legal name Cash App asks to set you up to use the deposit feature.
  • There is an insufficient fund on the check, so it cannot be cashed.
  • The mobile capture of the check is blurry. This is especially, when your pictures were taken on a surface that reflects light.
  • Your check is not eligible for deposit. Cash App accepts certain checks. It does not cash personal checks from your personal bank account, money orders, savings bonds or credit advancement checks.

All these valid reasons are why Cash App may reject your check deposit. As long as you do not fall in any of the categories I mentioned above, you should be fine. I usually like to make sure I cross out any of these, before I deposit my check because I hate having to deal with issues like the above.

Finally, I would like to mention there may be Cash App delayed direct deposit. This will happen in cases, where you neither follow the check deposit policy, nor deposit a good check. In these case, your Cash App experience will not be great with respect to check fund availability.

So, be sure to follow the app’s policy on check deposit. If you have any question, you can alway reach out to their support center. The support center can be very helpful in helping you resolve an issue.
