How To Get A Voided Check From Chase

June 9, 2024 //  by Chime N.U

How to get a voided check from chase

Earlier this week, I wrote about getting a voided check from Bank of America. Just like getting a check from BOA, Chase bank makes it easy to get one. All you need is a proof showing you are the owner of the account you are trying to set up a direct deposit on.

Before I talk about the options for getting a voided check without a check book at Chase, I assume you have account with the bank. This is because the bank does not give out a voided check to non-account members. This is because a voided check contains a bank account number and routing number. With these numbers, one is able to set up an automated bank transaction.

As you would agree with me, it is impossible to get a check with non-existing account details. Am I right, my dear reader?

Now, we have gotten this out of our way. There are three ways to get a Chase voided check. You can either get the voided check online, or create one with your bank personal check book. Otherwise, just walk into any of the Chase bank branches and request for one.

Let me elaborate for you.

Getting A Voided Check Online At Chase

To get voided checks online at Chase bank, there are two ways you can do this. Firstly, you can just go to the Chase website to get one. Or else, you can get a voided check on Chase app.

Here is what you need to do to get voided checks from Chase online.

  • Login to Chase account online.
  • On your checking account, click on More to drop down the arrow.
  • Select Account Services.
  • Click on Set Up Direct Deposit.
  • Once the page loads, click on Download Blankform(PDF) to see a blank form you can fill out.

You can download this form out, fill and print it. I do not recommend this approach though, since there is a risk of missing a digit when filing out the blank. This is why I will recommend you to use the Chase app to create a voided check.

Here is how you can get a voided check on the Chase app.

  • Login to your Chase app.
  • Tap on your Chase checking account.
  • Select Manage Account.
  • Tap on Set Up Direct Deposit Form.
  • Fill out the form and tap on Create Form to submit.

A document containing a voided check from Chase is created. You can either send this to yourself, or print it out and give to your employer. Either way, be sure to practice safe handling of your personal data.

Walk Into A Chase Bank Branch And Request One

You can simply walk into one of the Chase branches and request a voided check. It is very easy, although it may require the inconvenience of transporting yourself there. To be able to do this, you are going to be need something very important.

A legal form of identification.

Your driver license, military ID or American passport can suffice. As with all financial transactions happening inside a bank, this is a standard requirement. So, be sure to take one with you. It is the only way you can prove it is your account.

A void check from a Chase branch will not cost you a single cent. It is part of routine customer service. In fact, I highly recommend you request for a personal check book so you can make a void check yourself. This is to save you driving all the way to a bank each time you need a voided check.

Create Chase Voided Check From Personal Checkbook

As I mentioned earlier, you can create a voided check from your personal Chase checkbook. This is very easy to do. This is because all you need to do is write the word- VOID, across a blank Chase checkbook. Do it with a permanent black or blue ink in bold letters.

If you do not have a checkbook, you can get a personal check from Chase Bank. Only do this, if you want your direct deposit to go into your Chase personal accounts. Otherwise, you can request a checkbook for every other Chase bank accounts like the business account.

To learn about the different Chase accounts, read Opening A Chase Bank Account.

Although it is easy to create a Chase voided check from a personal check book, there is a correct way to void a check to avoid check fraud. Listen, a voided check has information about your bank account and routing number. When you do not void the check properly, someone can make a copy of your check and commit check fraud with it.

Hence, the importance of using a permanent ink for this purpose. It ensures people do not erase the word- void, in order to use your check for nefarious purposes. This is to protect yourself, because identity theft is no joke at all.
