Where To Buy A Mint Mobile SIM card?

Mint mobile does not have a physical retail stores like other mobile services. This is probably due to its prepaid nature, where its goal is wireless savings for young working class adults. I mentioned this on a review article I wrote- Is Mint Mobile Good For Wireless Savings. So, where to buy a mint mobile SIM card?

There are two ways Mint mobile service makes this available for potential customers. Firstly, you can buy it through nationwide stores that carry its prepaid SIM cards. Or else, you can just buy a mint mobile SIM card from the Mint mobile website below.

It’s time to make the switch to Mint Mobile―the new way to buy wireless.

Here is what I want you to know about buying this affordable wireless mobile service.

Where To Buy Mint Mobile SIM card?

So, where do you buy Mint mobile since it does not have any physical store?

There are three stores I know that carry the mint mobile prepaid SIM cards. You can simply walk in there, buy it and go home to set it up yourself. Here is where I can buy a mint mobile SIM card in the United States.

1. Best Buy

Best Buy carries mint mobile SIM cards. You can go into one of its store locations to buy it. Best Buy mint mobile SIM card in store are offered in three different choices.

Firstly, you have the starter kit. It is selling for $2.00. Mint offers you a free 7 day trial to use its service and see whether you like it. Now, this is not contracted. You can always decide to quit any time.

Secondly, there is the regular limited 3 month mint mobile plan. It is going for $45 on Best Buy store and website. This one comes with a 5GB phone plan. It is just a three month prepaid service.

Finally, it has the unlimited 3 month wireless service. Best Buy is selling this one for $90. I supposed the difference between the above and this one, is the above is limited. Hence, why the price is $45 as compared to $90.

2. Target

Target carries Mint mobile products. Just like Best Buy, you will get three choices from Target. There are some starter, a 3 month 5GB and a 3 month 15GB kits.

What does this mean for you?

Well, you have the choice to test out the phone plan with the starter’s kit. Target has it for $2.00. Or, you could try the three month plans. Either way, it is going to cost you the same $45 for the 5GB kit and $60 for the 15GB per month kit.

I would try the 7-day starter’s kit since it only costs $2. Then, switch to three months if I like it. This is just me recommending it to you. Go for what serves your financial and mobile service interests.

3. Amazon

Another place you can get this is from Amazon. Unlike the previous two I mentioned above, Amazon does not carry the starter’s sim kit. So, you are only left with the following options below.

  • $15/mo. Mint Mobile Phone Plan with 5GB of 5G-4G LTE Data + Unlimited Talk & Text for 3 Months (3-in-1 SIM Card).
  • $20/mo. Mint Mobile Phone Plan with 15GB of 5G-4G LTE Data + Unlimited Talk & Text for 3 Months
  • $30/mo. Mint Mobile Phone Plan with Unlimited Talk, Text & Data for 3 Months (3-in-1 SIM Card)

The above will cost you $45, $60 and $90 respectively. Also, the 3-in-1 SIM card means you will get standard, micro and nano sim sizes when you buy a mint mobile SIM card. With Amazon, just know you have to pay for shipping when you do not have its prime service. As a result, you may end up spending a few more dollars to get the Mint mobile prepaid SIM card.

How Long To Get Mint Mobile SIM Card?

It depends on where you are purchasing from. Online purchases from Amazon, Target or Best Buy websites will depend on the companies’ shipping policies. I am sure each will tell you on check out.

Personally, I would rather buy from the Mint mobile website. Make it easy on yourself and buy a Mint mobile SIM card from the above link. You will be buying directly from the Mint mobile service website. WeeklyBagel will get a commission at no cost to you.

Having said that, it may take about 2 days for Mint mobile to process your order. Then, it will take 2 to 5 business days for you to get it after shipment. If you order during a holiday, then your order will be processed after the holiday.

Want to get it the same day within a few minutes, my dear reader?

Just choose the eSIM during check out on the Mint mobile website. The QR code you will use to activate your Mint mobile eSIM card will be sent to the email address you provided. Be sure to check your spam box in case the email is not on regular inbox.

The eSIM option though, is for phones with eSIM. You know, the new ones they have nowadays with no physical SIM cards. I like it better, since it is easy to switch a network within minutes.

How To Activate Mint Mobile Sim Card

The Mint mobile set is easy. The process is the same regardless of where you buy the SIM card from. You can either do it through the mint mobile app or on its website.

Before starting the mint mobile activation, make sure to have ready: your current carrier’s account Number, its transfer pin and your zip code. Then, do the following below.

  • Download the mint mobile app from apple or google store.
  • Tap Activate a sim on the left top corner.
  • Then, enter the 11-digit ACT code on the back of the SIM card kit.
  • You can choose to keep your number or get a new number. If you select a new number, one will be given to you. Otherwise, you can still use your old number with mint mobile. Mint will just ask for you to enter your current number and zip code to determine eligibility for transfer.
  • Next, you will be asked to select your current carrier. This is where your current network transfer pin will be asked. Then, enter your legal name to initiate a number transfer. You will get a message saying it has been activated after initiating transfer.
  • Then, create a password and put in the mint prepaid SIM card. Your account with Mint mobile is created and you are good to go.

I recommend restarting your phone, in case of no signal. Turn off your phone for a minute or two and turn it back on.

In case of an eSim, you can simply scan the barcode sent to your email address and follow the instructions. A barcode with your eSim registration is often sent to your email address, when you purchase an eSim from Mint mobile website.

To conclude this article, I think Mint mobile is one of the Best Cheap Phone Plans For Frugal Adults out there. This is despite its lack of physical locations. So far, the lack of physical locations have not limited the wireless network convenience. You can get Mint mobile SIM cards from the above places I mentioned here.
