If you have made an international call while on another country with your phone, you know the heft bill waiting at home is no joke. My girlfriend against my advice did it once and she ended owing Verizon close to $700. This is where Mint mobile international roaming came through for me.

Mint is one of the best cheap phone plans for any frugal adult trying to save money using his or her phone internationally. It does not need much from you, other than buying its Mint international pass and setting it up before leaving the States. All of which I will discuss here for you.

Speaking of my girlfriend, she ended up switching to Mint international pass for her next travel to Nigeria. That only costed her $5 a month for during her entire 30 days stay. Yes- Minternational pass is that cheap. Although she complained about the plan having no internet data, that is because she was what she chose to go with.

I have a feeling you are going to love these. I did due to the fact they remain unbeatable amongst the American cellular industry. So, what does the mint mobile international roaming rates include?

There are four mint international rates for international travelers. They are designed to meet your call and text demands for the number of days you are out of the United States. Below are the number of days, which are offered to you.

• 10-Day Pass
• 30-Day Pass

The first two is great for any business person going on a business trip. The last two are for real vacationers who are taking some days off the bustling and hustling of today’s workplace. Usually, I take the 30-Day since it is quite cheap and meets my demand for the entirety of my travel period.

Finally, I recommend switching to the Mint mobile carrier before adding the International pass to it. The best thing about it, is you can still keep your phone number. Not only keep your phone number, but can always switch back to your regular network whenever you want. There is no contract with Mint.

Mint Mobile International Roaming In Mexico

The same plans I mentioned above work for Mexico too. You use Mint international roaming in Mexico to make calls within Mexico or outside of Mexico. Some people usually opt in to using Mexican cellular networks, when they get there.

But, that entails you getting a new local phone number. Also, you will need to buy the local network international plan to call outside of Mexico. Hence, why I think using mint mobile international pass is still the best.

It means you get to use your number for your mint international calling abroad and local. To simplify, when you are calling home from Mexico, people are not going to drop your call because they could not recognize it.

How To Activate Mint International Roaming

As I previously mentioned, you need to first have a mint mobile account, before activating its Minternational pass. Simply put, you need to switch to the carrier before attempting to access its cheap international travel plans.

How do you go about doing I, my dear reader?

Firstly, you need to buy a Mint mobile sim. Mint sells either the eSim or the physical one, depending on what kind of phone you have. I explained this on Where To Buy A Mint SIM Card?.

You do not have to read my article on that. Just follow the affiliate link below to go to the Mint mobile website. You can purchase the SIM card there. Not only purchase a sim card, but check compatibility with the cellular network.

Once you have set up Mint mobile on your phone, the next thing to do is to activate mint international. Firstly, turn on data roaming on your phone. Then, you can activate the international pass by a text, on the website or mint mobile app. I usually recommend doing it through a text message.

You just texted ACTIVATE to 6700. As soon as you are activated, the days pass you bought start coming down. What do I mean by this, good reader?

Well, a 3-Day pass starts when you activate the plan. To simplify, after the day of activation, you have two days remaining before the plan is finished. This is why I recommend doing it on the day you travel.

When Should I Activate MInternational?

I usually activate it at the airport, before I leave the US. It does two things for me. Firstly, I can still troubleshoot issues with activation. Secondly, my Mint mobile international roaming is ready to use before I get to my destination. I do not have to worry about issues.

If you are a last minute person, I encourage you to activate the International roaming before leaving. The reason is it may be hard getting customer support, when you are already outside of the country. Best to set up everything, while in the States.

Now, do not get me wrong. I am not saying it is not possible to set it up out of the United States. But, it is highly recommended you do it prior to traveling to your destination.

On the whole, I feel like Mint mobile is designed with young working class adults on mind. Seriously, I cannot imagine myself paying what my girlfriend paid at Verizon for international roaming. It is ridiculous!
