4 Best Mint Mobile International Plans You Need For Travel

One of my pet peeves traveling internationally is switching out my sim card to a foreign one. It is even more difficult nowadays, to switch to a foreign sim card since new phones in the US have eSIMs now. You can no longer pop out your SIM card for the foreign one. It was very frustrating, until I came across Mint mobile international plans.

What difference did it make?

Firstly, I do not have to buy a new phone in the foreign country because my iPhone does not have a slot for a SIM card. If you are not tech savvy like me, you would hate every single bit of the frustration. Although some countries in Europe, Asian and South America have support of ESIM, it is not easy figuring out how to roam on the local cellular networks.

Hence, why I just buy mint mobile and travel with it. Mint mobile works very well internationally in more than 180 countries. It has the most affordable international roaming plans. It is so cheap anyone could afford. And, this is coming from a fellow working class adult eking a living.

A while ago, I wrote an article answering a question- Does Mint Mobile Have International Roaming?. Today, I am going to elaborate on. So, here are the best plans I usually use to travel internationally, depending how long I am gone from the United States.

Below are the four cheap Mint international roaming rates for any avid traveler. The best part of it, is you do not need to buy a new phone or SIM card.

1. The 1-Day Mint International Pass

If you are going on a business trip outside of the US, this is for you. This is because it is not only cheap, but also gives you access to everything you will need for calls and text messages. Just how much does the Mint 1-day international pass cost?

It costs $5 to buy it. Kinda cheap, huh?

I think so too. I would get this for a day layover in an international country where you still want to be able to reach home. This is especially, when you do not trust airport wifi. I do not trust public wifi of foreign airports, so the 1-day Minternational pass is my go-to.

What features does the 1-day mint international pass comes with?

You are going to get 1GB of high speed internet data. While on the plan, you are allowed 60 text messages and 60 mins of phone calls. Personally, I do not think this is bad since you are only in the country for a day. If you want something more than the above, then you may have to go for the 3-day or 10-day plan.

2. The 3-Day Minternational Pass

With the 3-day Minternational pass, you have access to unlimited data. You get about 3GB for high speed internet data. All for the price of $10.

Now, I would say this is the typical plan for normal vacation people. Whether you are going to Canada, Mexico or other places, you are allowed to send 200 text messages to friends and family. This is in addition to 200 phone calls. Compared to local rates or using a typical cellular roaming abroad, I think $10 is not bad.

3. The 10-Day Mint International Pass

If you are looking for a longer vacation abroad, this plan will get you through it for $20. What does it come with?

It comes with 10GB high speed data and unlimited internet data. You will also have 500 minutes of phone calls and 500 text messages. This is for great for people who need to stay in touch with work, family, friends or social media throughout the duration of their travel abroad.

4. The 30-Day Mint International Pass

This is one of the best Mint mobile international plans. I say this due to its incredibly cheap price. The Mint mobile international roaming charge is $5.

Too cheap, eh?

You are probably wondering what the catch is. Oh yes, there is one. You do not get any internet data. This plan is only for texting and calling. You get 100 minutes of calling and 100 text messages on the plan. For $5 for a 30-day international travel, I do not think it is bad.

This is when compared to what big cellular carriers charge for international roaming for the same duration of travel. As you can see, the Mint mobile international cost is not bad at all. It is easy to set up too. However, you need to activate a Mint mobile international phone plan to access the feature.

How Do I Activate International Calling On Mint Mobile?

Firstly, I want you to go to Mint mobile international countries to see whether Mint will work in your travel destination. If you are an OG and user already, then proceed to activate Mint mobile international roaming by doing the following below:

  • Download the Mint mobile app on your iPhone or Android phone.
  • Tap on account tab on the bottom right.
  • Scroll and tap on Minternational under International Stuff. You will be shown the options of buying the Mint international passes I talked about earlier.
  • You can just buy the international pass that will work for your travel purpose.

Your plan will expire in 360 days, when you do not use it. I recommend you activate Minternational pass before departure. This is to avoid delays in troubleshooting issues. Once activated, your phone automatically begins call roaming when you get to your destination. This is as long as you have the call roaming setting on.

Is Mint International Roaming Good?

I think Mint international roaming is good. This is because Mint mobile is one of the best prepaid carriers for international roaming. The rates are affordable, even for any struggling working class adult who dreams of traveling outside of the United States.

I elaborated further on this subject on my article- Is Mint Mobile Good For Wireless Savings?.

As a fellow working class adult, I recommend using Mint mobile. It has great domestic and international rates. I discussed all of these in the above article.

On the whole, I would not recommend using a big American mobile carrier outside of the country. They are with all due respect- RIDICULOUSLY expensive. International roaming at Mint mobile is very affordable as you can see from what I have shown you here. Now, that is something a few mobile carriers can beat!
