When it comes to money orders, you do not have to go to a bank to get one. This is what makes money orders convenient for transactions. They are pre-paid means of payment you can get easily to do transactions quickly. There are gas stations that sell money orders near you for this purpose.

You can easily head out to a gas station and buy a money order without issues. This is especially on days, when banks and credit unions are closed for business. Having said that, here are the gas stations that do money orders:

1. Quiktrip Gas Station

You can do a money order at Quiktrip. This nationwide gas station is one of the cheapest places to do money order. It could be found in almost every Southern, South Eastern and Mid-Western parts of the United States.

Money Order Limit At QuikTrip Gas Station

The money order limit at Quiktrip is $950. This is the maximum money order you can get from this gas station. The limit is probably due to the fact, the gas station is a small convenience store and not a financial institution.

2. 7-Eleven Gas Station

7-Eleven sells money orders. The convenience stores sell either Western Union or MoneyGram money orders. It depends on what location you go to though.

You cannot buy one in any of its location with a credit card. However, you can get a money order with a debit card at 711. In case of no debit card, cash is allowed too.

How Much Is A Money Order At 7-Eleven

It costs about $0.65 to get a 7-Eleven money order. At least, that is minimum. Most locations will charge you about 1% to 3% of the money order value. The fee varies from location to location.

3. Circle K Gas Station

Circle K does money orders. It will sell you MoneyGram money orders at an affordable price, compared to other places you can get a money order. The maximum money order limit at Circle K is $500.

You can bypass this limit, by buying multiple money orders at Circle K. Just bear in mind you cannot buy more than $2999. Some locations may only allow $1999 daily limit. I recommend going to your local bank for amount greater than what Circle K has to offer you.

Additionally, the cost of a money order at Circle K may vary from $0.99 to $1.29. It depends on the store location. Having mentioned that, it is not all Circle K gas stations that do money orders. I recommend calling your local Circle K before heading out to purchase a money order.

4. Speedway

Speedway is one of the gas stations that sell money orders 24 hours and 7 days a week. The kind of money order it sells is a MoneyGram. Speedway payment method for money orders is cash only.

It does not take credit card payment. As for the fee for Speedway money orders, you will be charged about $1.59. This may vary from location to location, so be sure to call first before heading out.

So, how much does Kwik Trip charge for a money order?

Kwik Trip charges $0.99 for a money order. It is worthwhile to note, not all Kwik Trip locations sell money orders. I recommend you calling a location to inquire whether it sells money order before going there.

6. Valero Gas Station

Valero is one of the gas stations that do money orders. Although its money order policy is not listed on its official website, here are what you need to know about the gas station’s money order.

Firstly, it costs about $1.50 for a $500 money order. Not all Valero locations offer this money order purchase, so you may have to call before heading out there. The Valero gas station takes cash payment for money orders.

Finally, just like other gas stations, Valero may have a maximum limit attached to its money order. Be ready to buy multiple money orders, if the necessity arises. You can read Does Valero Do Money Orders to learn how to go about getting one from the gas station.

7. RaceTrac

You can buy a MoneyGram money order from Racetrack. It does not cost much at all. You will only be charged about $1.50 for $500 money order value. The convenience store takes cash payment.

In addition to this, you need a legal form of identification to make this purchase. If you want more than $500 of money order, you may have to buy multiple money orders from Racetrack. This is because the money order limit at RaceTrac is $500.

The only way you can bypass this, is by buying multiple money orders. Of course, each one has to be less than $500 or equal to the amount. Also, each money order is charged a fee separately. You may want to consider getting a money order from a bank, if the amount you want is higher than the listed limit.

8. Stripes

This gas station does MoneyGram and Western union money orders. The maximum money order value you can purchase from its convenience store is $500. The fee is 1% to 3% of the money order value.

Also, you do not need any ID to get a money order from the convenience store. Just show up with some cash for payment. Credit cards will not be accepted. Finally, be sure to call before going to buy a money order. This is because not all Stripe gas stations sell money orders.

9. Royal Farm

You can buy a MoneyGram money order from Royal Farm for a $1.25 fee. You do not need any ID for this transaction. Just take your cash there for payment.

Furthermore, Royal Farm has a money order limit of $300. This is the maximum limit you can get. If you want more than this limit, you have to purchase multiple money orders.

On the whole, gas stations are the best places to get a money order, when you are in a rush to get a small money order for a quick transaction. Anything more than that, you may want to get the money order from your bank or other money order places.

Please note none of these gas stations will cash your money orders. They will rather sell them to you. If you are looking to cash them, you can cash your money order with Walmart, your local bank or other check cashing places.

To reiterate, do not take your credit card to any of these places to pay for transactions. They will not take it. Just take some cash with you. Or, use the ATMs in these gas stations to get some cash for the transaction.
